Attention

Propane gas is in very short supply do to extreme weather. This condition could be improved if the Governor of the state of Florida would temporary lift propane transport drivers time restrictions. This would allow propane to flow into the state without restrictions.

Letter from the Florida Propane Gas Association

As you may know the propane industry continues to deal with the backlog of propane transport deliveries and shortages in propane inventories all across the State of Florida during this extreme weather. The pipelines that supply most of north Florida’s supply have gone on allocation this morning putting additional stress on the supply system. This has placed consumers, commercial businesses, agricultural users and industries at risk of running out of propane gas. Regrettably we were unsuccessful in getting an emergency executive order issued last week to give us much needed relief from transport driver hour’s restrictions. I would like to request a future meeting of those agencies with responsibilities over propane, transportation and energy issues along with members of the propane industry. My purpose is to address why Florida is the only SE state not to provide relief for transport driving hours during this crisis and to see what can be done to facilitate a better understanding of the issues for the future and a more timely reaction when needed. As I have repeatedly pointed out states to our north routinely issue such executive orders during winter months. The following states along the east coast and in the south east issued executive orders last week to address emergency fuel transportation issues – Arkansas, Alabama, Delaware, Georgia, Ohio, Mississippi, Maryland, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia. Thank you for your consideration and I look forward to finding a solution to this problem. David Rogers, FPGA
